About the Library

The Faculty of Health Sciences, Mbale Campus is located in Mbale city, Mbale district in Eastern Uganda approximately 245kms from the capital, Kampala. It is one of the seven campuses that constitute Busitema University, a multi-campus public university established by Statutory Instrument of Parliament No. 22, 2007. At the core of the Faculty of Health Sciences is a library- with a strategic goal to provide modern ICT-based learning and relevant health information resources. 

The library was established in September 2013 at the inception of the Faculty of Health sciences. Having started with 500 titles and 6000 E-books, the library`s collection has seen tremendous growth to over 7499 print titles and 90,000 E-books. Similary, the library student clientele has grown from 53 pioneer undergraduate students to now over 550 students enrolled at both undergraduate and enrolled postgraduate levels. From initially one academic program, the faculty library now serves programs including; the Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery, Bachelor of Nursing, Bachelor of Anesthesia, Masters of Public health, Masters of Internal Medicine, Masters of Pediatrics and Child Health as well as Masters of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
